Composite Manufacturing (Design) Ltd in Southampton, UK is underway resin infusing 10 metre Atlantic rowing boats for Rossiter Yachts, who will carry out the fit out at their Christchurch based boatyard.
The boats are built using a cored structure with epoxy/e-glass matrix. The bow section incorporates layers of Aramid for added strength. The hull moulds are first gelled with a polyester gelcoat that is epoxy compatible the materials are then loaded with the cloth and core which is all infused in epoxy within a 24 hour period. The bulk heads and deck structure are made on CML’s resin infusion table and then cut to shape on their CNC machine.
CML carry out composite projects not only in resin infusion but also in weight controlled hand layup and OOA Prepreg. They can carry out CNC cutting on their 3.5 axis AXYZ machine. Incorporating the services of their design business, Buckley Yacht Design, they can carry out all aspects of product development from conception through to production component.
